Skateboarding Hall of Fame Weekend

I’ve been overwhelmed with school lately, but I’m still here! After today, I can finally see some light at the end of the school tunnel, so I wanted to take some time to post something. Here’s a little update about our latest adventure…

Last week, we took a little break and got away for the weekend for the 2011 Skateboard Hall of Fame. Kelly was inducted around 2003, and the events are held every 2 years, and new members are inducted each time. This year, it was held at Kona Skate Park in Jacksonville. After years of hearing about it, I was glad to see it in person for the first time. It was definitely like stepping back into the 70s; really great!

Kelly, going down the snake run. He currently holds a 1st place position for this race.

Our good friend Garr Poe, with Kelly in the background.

Chuck Dinkins and Kelly by the bowl.

A nice lineup of some amazing old school skaters.

Dan Murray managed to sneak a couple shots of  us! Thanks, Dan!

Our friend Chris Baucom, who was nice enough to take us to some fun skate spots in Gainesville. Here are some shots from the next day…

Chris doing his thing at his local park.

Next up, was a private bowl that was built on an amazing piece of property. We were super thankful to go check it out. Kelly had a blast skating it, and I had fun getting some shots. The owners were really cool, and I can’t wait to go back.

Chris’ son, Alex. He’s basically been skating all his life and it shows!

Our good friend, Bob!

The lineup for this session. The legendary Paul Schmitt even made it out!

I fell in love with their pet Donkey, “Peanut”. So cute!

We had so  much fun, I hated to go home. I’m really looking forward to our next trip out! It was great to catch up with some old friends..
